Quiet area to live in Phuket. Part 3: Mai Khao.
If you look at the map of the island, Mai Khao is the northern part above the airport. It borders with Nai Yang Beach on one side, and with the Sarasin Bridge, which connects Phuket to the mainland, on the other.
Mai Khao is the longest beach on the island. Even if it wasn’t that long, it still would remain deserted due to its remoteness. Although one section of the beach is more popular than others and can get busy. Both tourists and locals come here to take photos against the backdrop of planes taking off and landing.
The sand at the beach is coarse, there are no showers and toilets, but there are sellers of food, fruits and drinks. There are also no motor boats and water scooters. The sea here is stormy and suitable for swimming only during the peak season, the rest of the year it is dangerous.
Shops in the area are basic. Many businesses have been closed during the pandemic. In order to buy stock of food or clothes, and just to have fun, you need to go to densely populated areas. For example, to Bang Tao, or rather, Thalang: there are a hospital, Makro, Robinson Lifestyle shopping center, and the nearest international school - UWC. The road to all these will take about 40 minutes. The way to the airport will take half the time.
Who is Mai Khao suitable for? Those who love privacy and tranquility will appreciate it greatly. If you don’t like the busy traffic in Phuket since the fall of 2022, if you don’t like the crowds of tourists – you won’t see it here. You will feel like this is a paradise quiet island.
If you have children who need company and want to go to school, then the area may be too remote: driving will take lot of time.

Baan Mai Khao is the elegant project with five buildings with the apartments that are spacious and not cheap. A long swimming pool with well-kept gardens around immediately attracts attention. The complex overlooks the beach. It features a children's pool, a library and a fitness room.
