Phuket areas for long term living in paradise
When you and your family decide to move to Phuket you face the question – which area should I choose? It all depends on personal preferences, but there are several factors you must consider. Usually people want to know if there are schools, nurseries and hospitals nearby, as the area should have all the amenities necessary for comfortable living.
Let’s start with Rawai area
Rawai is one of the most picturesque Phuket areas, with developed infrastructure and quiet places for those in need of their privacy.
Four nurseries are available. «Kid’s Island», taking children from ages 1,-3 up to 7 years old. Fenced territory offers cozy garden, pool, small petting zoo, playground. Available course are diverse: children yoga, advanced English learning, introduction to Thai language, creativity classes. Another nursery in Rawai is “Kinderville”. This one is also a Russian nursery with advanced English learning. Nursery “Skazka” (Fairytale), situated at: 20/39 Soi Suksan 2, Wiset Road, Rawai, Phuket, Thailand, 83130, also offers Russian language. Children are also provided with good nutritional meals. They may take up swimming, tour across the island or get acquainted with Thai language. Also starting September 2012 the nursery offers infant school from 1 to 4 grade.
“Phuket International School and Kindergarden” – is a nursery & infant school for kids. Acceptance age is from 1,5 to 12 years. Classes are in English, but a Russian teacher is available. Nursery/school is situated at Rawai: 79/6 Moo 4 Soi Sermsuk, Viset Road, Tambon, Rawai, Amphoe Muang, Phuket, 83130. Here kids take up arts, languages, sports, dances.
There is a school at Rawai - Rawai Progressive International School. Address: 4/1 M.5, Viset Rd, Rawai, Muang, Phuket 83130 Thailand. Children from 3 to 12 years old can be accepted. Teaching is based on the Montessori system focusing on the individual peculiarities and preferences of each child.
Then goes Chalong area.
No doubts Chalong is one of the most popular areas among Russian speaking community and one of the best places for long term living in Phuket. There are three nurseries available; “Buds International School Phuket” – international nursery/school accepting kids from 1,5 to 7 years old. Children may take up tennis, swimming, cooking and other kinds of arts. The institution is placed at: 14/11Chao Fa Road East, Moo 9, T. Chalong A. Muang, Phuket, 83130, Thailand.
International nursery “Smiley Kidz” also teaches in English and situated at: 10/28 Moo3 Jonthong Thani Village, Chaofa Road, Wichit, Muang, Phuket 83000 Thailand. Acceptance age is 1,5 to 7 years.
Another Chalong nursery - “Cravens International Nursery Pre School”. It is situated at: 48/5 Moo 10, Soi Jaofa 47, T. Chalong, A. Muang, Phuket 83130, Thailand, - by the mall Villa Market. Teaching is in English. Kids accepted from 1,5 to 6 years.
There is also an international hospital at Chalong - Dubik Polyclinic Phuket. This is the newest hospital in Chalong area, where many expatriates have already purchased property. There is an international Kajonkietsuksa School at Chalong. The school has two branches: at Chalong and Katu. Teaching is in English and Thai. Pre-school education, nursery and regular elementary school are available.
North of the island – Bang Tao beach, Lagoon.
Bang Tao is one of the most prestigious areas. It’s very easy to get anywhere from here, and the developed Northern Phuket infrastructure is as good as any other part of the island.
Russian nursery “Indigo” is situated here. Acceptance age – 2 to 6 years. Nursery offers additional free calisthenics courses. Address: 80/12, Moo 7,Sisunthorn, Thalang, Phuket, Thailand.
The most prestigious educational institutions are also situated here. Phuket International Academy is at: 115/15 Moo 7 Thepkasattri Road, Thepkasattri,Thalang, Phuket 83110, Thailand. The school accepts children from 18 months to 18 years old. The best specialists from all over the world teach here. Students are allowed to receive International Bachelor degree.
British International School is placed at: 59 Moo 2, Thepkrasattri Road T. Koh Kaew, A. Muang Phuket 83000, Thailand. Children accepted from 18 months to full legal age. The school is a real castle with the adjoining territory and top level professors. All classes are conducted in English. The main advantage of this institution is that graduating exams are equal to the entrance exams in Cambridge.
Kathu and Phuket Town
This area is the center of the small island. But the comfortable climate and high quality of life attract tourists.
Kathu has a number of international hospitals, e.g. Phuket International Hospital. The best Phuket shopping malls nearby: Central Festival, Big C, Index, Home Pro, Tesco Lotus. During working hours all the patients are offered with Russian translators who can help consulting Thai doctors. Bangkok Hospital Phuket is also situated in Kathu area, near the island’s capital Phuket Town. This is the most expensive and the most popular among the foreigners. The staff is about 2000 doctors and 300 nurses. There are surgery, pediatrics and cosmetic surgery departments. Vachira Government Hospital is also here. This Thai hospital is one of the oldest medical institutions on the island (functions since 1906), that’s why it’s always crowded. Three international schools are located in Kathu area. First one - Headstart International School Phuket. Address: 41/6 Moo 5, Vichitsongkram Rd. T. Vichit A. Muang Phuket 83000. Acceptance age from 1 to 12 years old. This is school and nursery. Teaching is carried out by British system and children also receive Cambridge certificate.
The second one - Darasamuth Phuket School. Address: 13 Moo 5 Witchitsongkram Road Muang Phuket 83000. Children from 3 to 12 years old are taught in two languages: English and Thai. School is local, but the teaching is carried out by European system.
And the third one - QSI International School of Phuket. Address: 81/4 Chalermprakiat R.9 Road Soi Teepakasong Samkong T. Kathu Amphur Kathu Phuket 83120. The school was accredited by Thai Education Department and USA Education Association. The school is small and the number of vacant positions is limited. Acceptance age is from 3 to 13 years old.
